Surat Municipal Corporation has secured the first position as the “Best Urban Local Body” under the Fifth National Water Award organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Today, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu honored Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, and Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal in New Delhi by presenting them with the award. Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil was also present as a special guest.
Surat Municipal Corporation earned this award for its excellence in water conservation, recycling, reuse, and water management. Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, and Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal expressed their gratitude to the citizens of Surat, the municipal officials and staff, the state government, and the elected wing of the corporation for this achievement, and congratulated the citizens for their cooperation in water purification and management.
