Hyderabad, (Telangana), [India], 25th September 2024: Six Grade 9 IGCSE students from Manthan School, Hyderabad, have initiated a unique environmental conservation effort through ‘Project Go Kurin’, focusing on paper recycling and sustainability.

As part of the ISP Changemakers program, the project aimed to reduce paper waste within the school by transforming it into recycled paper and handcrafted paper mache items. The initiative concluded with a donation drive and a paper recycling workshop at the Keshav Nagar Government School.

Under Project Go Kurin, the students collected paper waste from the school, processed it into pulp, and used it to create recycled paper. This paper was then crafted into toys, sculptures, and decorative items, which were donated to children at the local Anganwadi. The students also conducted a workshop teaching the kids the art of paper recycling.

One of the participating students shared their experience, saying, “Recycling school paper waste was eye-opening. We learned how small actions can contribute to environmental conservation. It was fulfilling to see the joy on the Anganwadi children’s faces when we gave them the toys.”

Manthan School’s Principal, Mr. Surjeet Singh, praised the students for their initiative, saying, “It is heartening to see our students engage in such impactful projects that foster both creativity and environmental responsibility. Project Go Kurin demonstrates the potential young minds have in driving positive change.”

This project not only benefited the school and Anganwadi community but also underscored the significance of sustainability and recycling practices in everyday life.
