VIDEO: ‘Don’t Take Me Lightly, Understand My Signals…’: Shinde’s Latest Statement Amid Growing Tensions with CM Fadnavis
Nagpur, Maharashtra — Maharashtra’s Maha Yuti government is witnessing growing tension between Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Recent statements from Shinde have sparked discussions about a possible cold war between the two leaders.
Shinde’s Statement Reiterated
On Friday, Eknath Shinde reiterated his previous remarks about “changing the game,” which he had made two days earlier. When asked by reporters in Nagpur, Shinde clarified, “I’ve said this before—those who took me lightly… I am just a simple worker. But I am a worker of Balasaheb and Dighe Saheb. Everyone should remember that. When I was underestimated in 2022, I changed the game. I changed the government and brought in one that fulfills the common people’s desires. So don’t take me lightly. Those who understand the signals will get it.”
He continued, “In my first speech in the Assembly, I said Fadnavis Ji would win more than 200 seats, and we secured 232 seats. So, don’t take me lightly. Those who want to understand my message will, and I will continue doing my work.”
Speculation About a Rift in the Alliance
The speculation regarding a potential split in the ruling tri-party alliance (BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP) has surfaced just three months after the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Despite the alliance’s victory with 230 out of 288 seats, discussions of a rift within the government have been increasing, but no official clarification has yet emerged to resolve the rumors.
Tension Between Fadnavis and Shinde
The rift between Chief Minister Fadnavis and Deputy CM Shinde reportedly began after the Maharashtra Assembly election results were announced in November. While Fadnavis was appointed as Chief Minister, Shinde was forced to accept the role of Deputy Chief Minister after considerable negotiations.
However, following the agreement, Fadnavis reportedly canceled several projects initiated during Shinde’s tenure and ordered investigations into certain deals. These actions further escalated the tension between the two leaders. In recent days, Shinde has not attended several meetings called by Fadnavis, which has only fueled further speculation about the growing divide between the two.
Sources indicate ongoing disagreements over the appointment of district guardian ministers, as well as disputes regarding separate review meetings for medical cells and other projects, have added fuel to the fire.
