On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (November 28, 2025) unveiled the 77-Ft Lord Ram Statue in Goa, which was one of the main attractions of the 550th-year Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt celebrations. The giant statue has been made by the famous sculptor Ram Sutar, who is also credited with the Statue of Unity project in Gujarat. Goa’s Minister for Public Works Digambar Kamat stated that this is being touted as the world’s tallest Lord Ram statue, thus, rendering the event more historic. Using a heliport specially constructed for the-event, PM Modi reached the mutt. He was greeted by Shrinivas Dempo, chairperson of the mutt’s central committee, and a host of other people who also had gathered at the site in large numbers to see the event. The unveiling is like a watershed moment for the mutt as it is now 550 years old and spiritually and culturally-rich. The celebrations consist of various religious, cultural, and community activities from November 27 to December 7. These festivities symbolize the enduring traditions and the contributions of the institution to the region. The Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt is not only famous for its spiritual activities but also has a history behind it. The site, which is located in Partagal village of Canacona taluk, South Goa, was established approximately 370 years ago. It has continued to be a major place for faith, learning, and spiritual mentoring throughout the centuries. The towering Ram statue inaugurated now will the mutt attracting many devotees and tourists who will not only want to see the magnificent structure but also be a part of the 10-day celebrations.
