Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Indian women cricket team in New Delhi on November 5, celebrating their historic Women’s World Cup victory. During an engaging session, Modi shared an inspiring message, urging the players to visit schools and motivate young students to dream big.

The Indian women’s team made history on November 2 by defeating South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to lift their first-ever Women’s World Cup trophy. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the team’s journey included a thrilling semi-final win over Australia and a dominant final performance.

“Go to your schools, meet the kids, and talk to them,” the Prime Minister told the players. “Their questions will inspire you, and your answers will inspire them for life.” Modi encouraged the cricketers to visit at least three schools this year to connect with students and promote the Fit India Movement.

Highlighting the rising concern of obesity, he advised the players to lead by example, saying, “Reduce the use of oil by 10%. When you share this message, people will follow — especially the daughters of the country.”

Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana thanked Modi for his guidance, adding that the team’s victory aims to “start a revolution in women’s sports in India.” The team is also scheduled to meet the President on November 6 before taking a well-deserved break ahead of their next international series in 2026.
