PM Modi’s Hometown Vadnagar to Become Gujarat’s First Slum-Free City

Special redevelopment project to transform the historic town into a global tourism destination

Vadnagar, the historic hometown of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to become Gujarat’s first slum-free city, under a special development initiative launched by the state government. The project aims not only to eliminate slums but also to enhance the city’s appeal as a world-class heritage and tourism destination.

According to sources, the plan includes removing over 300 encroachments across 15 identified areas, which currently obstruct developmental activities. These sites will be redeveloped with modern amenities such as gardens, playgrounds, hawker zones, and more. Active work is expected to begin after the monsoon season.

Housing for Slum Residents
