New High-Tech Volvo Buses Flagged Off to Connect Major Cities of Gujarat:

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) is providing excellent public transportation services to the citizens of the state. To connect the major cities of Gujarat, 10 new high-tech Volvo buses were flagged off by the State Minister for Transport and Home, Shri Harshbhai Sanghvi.

The event was held at the SVNIT Circle in Surat and was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly Shri Manubhai Patel, Shri Kantilal Balra, Smt. Sangeetaben Patil, Deputy Mayor, District Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, GSRTC Secretary Shri Ravi Nirmal, Organization Head Shri Niranjan Zhanjmera, Surat’s Divisional Controller Shri P.V. Gurjar, and ST Corporation officials and staff.

These new buses are equipped with several passenger-friendly features, including a seating capacity of 47, 2X2 leather seats with pushback functionality, mobile charging facilities, and a length of 13.50 meters. The buses also come with advanced fire detection and suppression systems in the engine compartment, fire protection systems in the salon area, CCTV cameras for monitoring, emergency evacuation stairs, emergency exits, and emergency hatch and windows. The materials used for upholstery are FR grade. These high-tech Volvo buses aim to provide a more comfortable travel experience for the citizens.

These buses will operate on several routes, including Surat to Gandhinagar, Gandhinagar to Surat, Surat to Nehrunagar, Nehrunagar to Surat, and other routes to Rajkot.

It is worth noting that, as part of the state’s commitment to improving transportation services, the Gujarat government launched the first fleet of premium Volvo buses in 2010 between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Over time, the fleet has expanded, and currently, 170 high-end sleeper and seat buses are operated, connecting major cities and religious destinations such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhuj, Surat, Somnath, Ambaji, Dwarka, and others, including Nathdwara in Rajasthan.
