New Era for Kerala: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that the state has successfully eliminated extreme poverty, calling it a historic achievement.

The announcement was made in the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Kerala Piravi Day (State Formation Day), which marks the creation of Kerala in 1956. Vijayan made his statement under Rule 300, declaring that Kerala is now the first Indian state to become “Extreme Poverty Free.”

In his speech, the Chief Minister said, “The formation of linguistic states was an idea proposed by the national movement long ago. After independence, it took many years of struggle to create a united Kerala — the dream of Malayalis. Today, 69 years later, we are celebrating not only the formation of our state but also a new beginning — a Kerala free from extreme poverty.”

Vijayan said this achievement is the result of strong government policies and welfare programmes aimed at helping poor families. Over the years, the state has invested in education, healthcare, and housing to improve people’s lives.

He added that this success marks the start of a new era for Kerala, showing that with collective effort and good governance, it is possible to ensure a dignified life for everyone.
