Objective of the “Namo Lakshmi Yojana”: To encourage girls studying in secondary and higher secondary schools from grades 9 to 12 to pursue higher education.
The “Namo Lakshmi Yojana” has provided a new direction for girls’ education in the state, benefiting poor and middle-class families. Under this scheme, girls studying in grades 9 to 12 receive a total of ₹50,000 in financial assistance.
The Story of Beneficiary Nikita Patel: 17-year-old Nikita Kanti Bhai Patel, who studies in grade 11 at “The Radiant International School” in Jahangirabad, Surat, stated, “In today’s modern era, every daughter dreams of pursuing higher education. I also wish to advance in sports along with my higher studies.”
Nikita mentioned that her father runs a small grocery store, making it challenging for all siblings to achieve higher education. However, “Namo Lakshmi Yojana” has come as a blessing for us. The uniqueness of this scheme is that even though the girl is currently in grade 11, she will still receive assistance for grades 9 and 10. Thus, with a total financial aid of ₹50,000, we have received significant support.
Nikita further expressed, “Along with fulfilling my dream of higher education, the financial burden on my family has also significantly reduced. For economically weaker families like ours, ₹50,000 is a substantial amount.”
She explained that many daughters who wish to pursue further studies often cannot fulfill their aspirations due to the financial constraints of their families and are compelled to drop out of school midway. In this context, this scheme stands as a beacon of hope.
Thanking the state government, Nikita remarked, “Now, due to financial difficulties, daughters will not be deprived of higher education.”
