Kankaria Carnival 2024 Kicks Off with Drone Shows, Live Performances, and Star-Studded Lineup
Ahmedabad, December 25: The much-anticipated Kankaria Carnival, a grand cultural event, officially began today, December 25, in Ahmedabad. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, will be inaugurating the 7-day carnival, which is expected to attract more than 22 lakh visitors. The event, running from December 25 to December 31, promises a week full of entertainment, vibrant performances, and exciting new attractions for people of all ages.
This year’s carnival is set to feature some unique and first-time-ever performances. The highlights include a spectacular drone show, an underwater dance performance, and a human pyrotechnics show, similar to those held in Dubai. These thrilling performances will be accompanied by numerous cultural events, musical shows, and entertainment programs throughout the seven days.
Several renowned artists will perform live during the carnival, including Gujarati singers like Isani Dave (December 27), Geetaben Rabari (December 28), Sairam Dave (December 30), and Kinjal Dave (December 31). All performances will take place at the Kankaria Pushpkunj stage, attracting large crowds of music and dance enthusiasts. The carnival will remain open to the public from 4 AM to 10 PM each day, with free entry for all visitors.
Speaking about the carnival, Mayor Pratibha Jain stated that apart from the cultural extravaganza, the event would also witness the inauguration of development works worth ₹868 crore. The carnival will feature a range of exciting programs, including laser shows, sound and light shows, and a variety of performances such as local dandiya, Bollywood fusion music, police band performances, and tipani dance.
The carnival will also offer diverse activities for all age groups, including stand-up comedy shows by popular comedians like Manan Desai, Deep Vaidya, Chirayu Mistry, Amit Khuba, and Suraj Baraliya. Popular rock bands such as Meghdhanush and Ehsaas Band will perform throughout the event, while DJ Kiara will take center stage for the much-awaited DJ Night, ensuring that the crowd has an unforgettable experience.
In addition to these performances, the carnival will also focus on health and community activities. There will be blood donation camps throughout the event, and the Kankaria area will be equipped with medical teams and mobile medical vans to provide assistance to attendees. A ‘Lost and Found’ desk will also be set up for any children or belongings misplaced during the event. To ensure safety, the carnival will be monitored by over 1,300 police officers, and CCTV cameras will be installed at key locations.
One of the most exciting moments of the carnival will be when over 1,000 children from municipal schools and anganwadis will attempt to break a Guinness World Record by opening and eating candies together. This collective effort will be a key highlight of the carnival, bringing together the community for a fun-filled and memorable experience.
The carnival will feature various competitions and shows, including martial arts, self-defense, drum circles, singing competitions, instrumental performances, mime acts, and more. For children, there will be magic shows, cycling stunts, and numerous other fun activities designed to keep young minds entertained.
With multiple stages set up across the venue, visitors can enjoy a variety of shows and cultural performances from 6 AM to 10 PM. Different sessions have been planned for women and children during the day, while evening hours will be dedicated to larger cultural and entertainment performances.
Kankaria Carnival 2024 is not just an event; it’s a week-long celebration of Gujarat’s culture, music, dance, and community spirit. With a wide array of attractions, safety measures, and entertainment options, this year’s carnival promises to be an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike.
