Political temperatures in Gujarat have surged once again as former cabinet minister Jawahar Chavda has returned to active politics, centering his comeback around the highly sensitive issue of unemployment. For months, Chavda has been visibly upset with the functioning of the ruling party, and now he has taken a bold step by initiating a public campaign titled “Rojgar Sahayata Abhiyan.” His recent videos posted on social media have sparked intense conversations across political circles in Saurashtra, particularly in Junagadh.

In his earlier message, Chavda openly stated, “Enough is enough, now words alone won’t work,” indicating his dissatisfaction with the current system. On 24 November, he released another video on Facebook where he interacted with unemployed youth, listened to their concerns, and highlighted the deep-rooted issues within the administrative system. Through his message, Chavda said that unemployment today is not limited to any one caste, class, or region; it is a widespread problem affecting all sections of society. He further pointed out that government departments suffer from a lack of coordination and mismanagement, while many large companies are failing to offer fair job opportunities to local candidates. Instead, biased behavior and partiality are increasing the frustration among job seekers.

One of the most painful issues highlighted by Chavda is the frequent paper leaks and flawed recruitment methods. This, he said, has created disappointment, anger, and hopelessness among the youth, despite their talent and hard work. According to Chavda, repeated paper leaks, manipulation in recruitment, and lack of transparency have shattered the trust of lakhs of aspirants across the state. He stressed that this is not just a governance failure but a collective responsibility in which society, leaders, and institutions have all somewhere failed the younger generation.

Earlier this year, Chavda had announced that starting from 1 September 2025, he would visit taluka headquarters to personally hear the problems of unemployed youth and women. Through this campaign, he aims to give them a platform where their grievances can be documented and represented. His emphasis on women’s unemployment was especially notable. Drawing from his experience during the BPL assistance campaign, he said that lack of opportunities for women remains a critical challenge in villages as well as cities. Educated girls are struggling to find appropriate jobs, widowed mothers are forced to depend on others, and even in urban areas, women face inequality in wages and job opportunities. Chavda insisted that corruption and favoritism are blocking deserving candidates from securing rightful employment.

At a time when internal factions within the BJP in Junagadh are being widely discussed—especially after the Lok Sabha and Visavadar by-elections—Chavda’s new movement is being seen as politically significant. His appearance at an AAP leader Piyush Parmar’s event has added further fuel to speculation that he might be preparing for a shift in political alignment. According to political experts, his unemployment-driven campaign could be his first major step toward reorganizing his support base for the 2027 Assembly elections. Ending his message, Chavda urged the youth to treat this movement seriously and share their feedback so that meaningful solutions can be built.
