Jamnagar Administration Prepares Safety Measures for Dwarka-bound Pilgrims During Holi-Dhuleti
With the Holi-Dhuleti festival approaching, thousands of devotees are undertaking a padayatra (pilgrimage on foot) to participate in the Phooldol Utsav at Dwarka’s Jagat Mandir. To ensure the safety and well-being of these pilgrims, service camps have been set up by volunteers. In this regard, a meeting was held at the Jamnagar District Collector’s office, chaired by Collector Ketan Thakkar, to review preparations and implement necessary measures.
Health and Safety Arrangements for Pilgrims
During the meeting, the Collector directed officials from relevant departments to:
- Ensure the health and hygiene of the pilgrims
- Maintain cleanliness along the pilgrimage routes
- Implement effective safety measures
A review of ongoing preparations was also conducted. The health department is chlorinating drinking water sources at various service camps to maintain hygiene standards. To prevent accidents and enhance road safety, the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) and RTO are distributing reflectors and life jackets to pilgrims.
Additional Safety and Convenience Measures
For further safety, roadside stands have been installed, and extensive road cleaning and plastic waste removal efforts are underway. To protect pilgrims from heatstroke, the administration has ordered the installation of banners and informational guides at various camps.
