During the match, Digvesh dismissed Priyansh Arya and celebrated with a “letter-writing” gesture, which caught the attention of the umpires. The BCCI deemed the act inappropriate under the IPL Code of Conduct and imposed a penalty, citing unsportsmanlike behavior.

The IPL released an official statement confirming that Digvesh Singh Rathi accepted his Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct and agreed to the match referee’s sanctions. His controversial celebration occurred after Priyansh Arya was caught out on the last ball of the third over by Shardul Thakur at mid-on. Following the dismissal, Digvesh made a writing gesture with his hands, prompting the on-field umpires to take notice and discuss the matter with him.

Leg-spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi is known for his bowling style, which closely resembles that of Sunil Narine. He gained recognition in the 2024 Delhi Premium League while playing for South Delhi Superstars. In that tournament, he emerged as the fourth-highest wicket-taker, claiming 14 wickets in 10 matches with an impressive economy rate of 7.83. Ahead of IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants acquired him for ₹30 lakh, making him a promising addition to the squad.
