Global Power Dynamics: India Left Out of Top 10, While Traditional Powers Hold Strong
India Excluded from Forbes’ Top 10 Most Powerful Countries Ranking, Surprising Many
New Delhi, February 3, 2025: In a surprising turn of events, Forbes has excluded India from its 2025 list of the world’s top 10 most powerful countries. The rankings, which were compiled by U.S. News, have sparked debate as India, with its vast population, fourth-largest military, and fifth-largest economy, was notably absent from the list.
Key Criteria for Ranking
Forbes clarified that the rankings were based on five key factors: a country’s leadership, economic influence, political power, strong international alliances, and military strength. Despite India’s notable presence on the global stage, it was not included in the prestigious top 10 list, raising several questions regarding the ranking methodology.
India’s Exclusion Raises Questions
India’s exclusion from the list has left many experts and analysts questioning the accuracy of Forbes’ methodology. With one of the largest populations globally, significant military power, and a rapidly growing economy, India’s absence has raised doubts about whether the ranking fairly evaluates the country’s global influence.
The Ranking Model and Research Team
The ranking model was developed by the BAV Group, part of the WPP network, and the research was led by Professor David Reibstein from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
While established powers like the United States, China, and Russia retained their positions, India’s exclusion from the list of the most powerful countries has drawn sharp criticism from political analysts and experts.
Global Power Shifts
As emerging powers continue to assert their influence globally, India’s absence from such influential rankings raises important questions about the evolving geopolitical landscape. The ranking also highlights the growing debate about how power is measured on the global stage.
