BJP’s Hardeep Singh Puri Attacks Rahul Gandhi Over Anti-State Remarks, Warns of Political Consequences
Hardeep Singh Puri Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Fighting Indian State’ Remark, Calls It a ‘Soros Toolkit’ Move
Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent controversial statement about “fighting the Indian State.” Puri accused Gandhi of either suffering from a “derailment of mental coordinates” or being influenced by what he referred to as the “Soros toolkit,” a term often used to allege foreign interference.
Speaking at a press interaction, Puri said, “If a leader of the Opposition, belonging to a party that played a role in India’s freedom struggle and produced multiple prime ministers, is now claiming to fight the Indian State, it reflects poorly on their current political trajectory. The BJP has emerged as the largest political party and has governed effectively for a decade. But targeting the RSS, a cultural organization that prioritizes the nation, the Constitution, and Indian values, shows a lack of understanding.”
Puri went further, questioning Gandhi’s intent and rationale, stating, “How can any Indian say they are against the Indian State? Either it’s an issue of mental derailment or a scripted playbook designed to destabilize. Gandhi, despite being repeatedly launched as a leader at the age of 54, must introspect. Statements like these will not resonate well with the Indian public.”
The minister’s remarks come after Gandhi’s recent criticism of the BJP and the RSS, which he described as threats to Indian democracy. The controversy has sparked heated debates across political circles, with the BJP accusing Gandhi of undermining national unity and the Congress defending his statements as critiques of governance and policy.
As the 2024 general elections approach, this war of words adds another layer of intensity to the already polarized political landscape.
