Tragic Accident in Botad: Car Carrying BAPS Devotees Swept Away, 2 Dead, 1 Missing
Botad, July 14, 2025 – A tragic incident occurred near Godhavata village in Botad district, where a car carrying seven devotees of the BAPS Swaminarayan sect was swept away by strong water currents while crossing a causeway. Due to relentless rainfall across Gujarat, several regions are witnessing flooding and waterlogging, contributing to such accidents.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was en route from Bochasan to Sarangpur when it attempted to cross a causeway that had been flooded due to heavy rains. The car lost control and was washed away by the strong current.
Among the seven passengers, Krishnakant Pandya and a 10-year-old boy, Prabuddh Kasiya, tragically lost their lives. Four others were rescued safely, while one person remains missing. Local rescue teams responded immediately, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also joined the search and rescue operation.
District officials, including the Mamlatdar of Barwala and senior police authorities, rushed to the site and are overseeing ongoing rescue efforts. A thorough search for the missing devotee is currently underway with full intensity by local teams and the NDRF.
This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow of grief over the BAPS community and the surrounding region. Families of the deceased are in mourning, and officials have begun further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
