GATE Exam Guidelines : The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, one of India’s most competitive national-level engineering exams, will begin on February 7 and continue till February 15. Conducted by IIT Guwahati, the examination will be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode across centres nationwide. With multiple dates and two daily shifts, candidates must be prepared both academically and logistically to avoid last-minute confusion.
GATE 2026 Exam Dates & Shift Timings
The exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14 and 15 in two shifts:

Morning Shift: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Candidates are advised to report 60–90 minutes early for biometric and document verification, as late entry is generally not permitted.
Admit Card & Entry Requirements
Entry will be allowed only after proper verification. Candidates must carry:

Original valid photo ID such as Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence or PAN Card.
Digital or photocopied IDs will not be accepted.
Items Allowed & Prohibited
GATE is fully computer-based with an on-screen virtual calculator. The following items are strictly prohibited:

Rough sheets will be provided at the centre.
