Empowering Indian Innovators: AlgoBharat’s Road to Impact Journey in Blockchain Innovation Continues

Supporting Startups and Developers to Shape the Future of India’s Blockchain Ecosystem

Surat, (Gujarat), [India], 11th September 2024: AlgoBharat, the India initiative of the Algorand Foundation, has launched the second edition of its “Road to Impact” program. Led by Dr. Nikhil Varma, Tech Lead for India at Algorand Foundation, the team traveled through eight cities to bring together young Web3 developers and startup teams. These teams will compete in a four-month journey of workshops and one-on-one mentoring, leading up to the Foundation’s India Summit in early December.

India is emerging as a major hub for Web3 developers and innovation. Studies show that India’s share of blockchain developers has grown from 3% in 2018 to 12% last year. Unlike many other hackathons, AlgoBharat focuses on deep and ongoing support for developers and startups. The “Road to Impact” initiative provides training and access to open-source platforms, helping participants build real-world blockchain solutions.

The program aligns with India’s 2047 vision of creating a digitally empowered society and supporting economic growth through technology. By nurturing startups and developers, AlgoBharat aims to position India as a global leader in Web3 innovation.

Nikhil Varma expressed his excitement, saying, “The creativity and passion from India’s developer community are incredible. From Surat to Trivandrum, we are seeing blockchain solutions that are transforming local industries, from supply chains to healthcare and financing. India is not just part of the blockchain revolution, it’s leading it. We are honored to support these projects and look forward to seeing them thrive in the Algorand ecosystem.”

Building on the success of last year’s “Creating Impact!” startup competition, AlgoBharat has added a Developer track to help individual developers grow and market their skills. The Road to Impact journey, which visited cities like Indore, Surat, Delhi, and Hyderabad, will culminate in the Algorand India Summit in Hyderabad on December 7 and 8. The summit will showcase blockchain solutions and offer exciting prizes, including financial rewards and ALGO credits for project development.
