Director Sanoj Mishra Arrested in Rape Case After Offering Film Role to Viral Mahakumbh Girl Monalisa
Sanoj Mishra Arrest: Director Sanoj Mishra, who offered a film role to Monalisa—the girl who went viral at the Mahakumbh Mela for selling garlands—has been arrested in a rape case. Delhi Police took action after the Delhi High Court rejected his bail plea. He is accused of luring a girl from Jhansi with promises of a film career and then sexually exploiting her. Additionally, he allegedly threatened her to remain silent.
Met Through Social Media
The victim revealed, “I met Sanoj Mishra through social media in 2020 when I was living in Jhansi. We chatted for a long time. On June 17, 2021, he called me and said he was at Jhansi railway station. He wanted to meet me, but due to social pressure, I refused. At that time, he threatened to commit suicide.”
Blackmailed Her into Meeting by Threatening Suicide
The victim further stated, “The next day, on June 18, 2021, Sanoj called me again. He said that if I did not meet him, he would commit suicide. Fearful of his threat, I agreed to meet him. He took me to a resort, gave me an intoxicating substance, and raped me.”
Filed an FIR Against the Director with Courage
Following the incident, the victim decided to file a complaint against the director. In her FIR, she claimed, “Sanoj took obscene photos and videos of me and threatened to leak them. He continued to call me to different locations under the false pretense of marriage and established physical relations with me. He kept promising me roles in films. Hoping for a career in the industry, I moved to Mumbai and started living with him. Even there, he continued to exploit me.”
Threatened to Leak Photos and Videos
The victim further alleged, “Sanoj forced me to undergo three abortions. In February 2025, he abandoned me and warned that if I filed a complaint, he would leak my explicit photos and videos.”
Delhi Police registered a case against Sanoj Mishra based on the victim’s complaint. After an investigation, he was arrested. He later applied for bail in the Delhi High Court, but his plea was rejected.
