New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal vacated his residence at 6, Flagstaff Road on Friday and moved to his new address in Lutyens’ Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener was seen leaving his house with his wife and son in a car. His parents and daughter followed in another vehicle.
The Kejriwal family headed to their new home at 5 Firozshah Road near Mandi House, which is the official residence of Ashok Mittal, an AAP member and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. Mittal was allotted this bungalow in Central Delhi.
Last month, Kejriwal resigned from the Chief Minister’s post, stating that he would only resume the position after receiving a “certificate of honesty” from the people in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections in February. He had earlier mentioned that he would vacate the CM residence during Navratri.
The Navratri festival began on Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Kejriwal, the activist-turned-politician, of corruption in the excise policy and in the reconstruction of the Chief Minister’s bungalow. After spending five months in Tihar Jail due to the excise policy case, the AAP chief was released on bail on September 13, granted by the Supreme Court.
