Deepak Kalal belonged to a middle-class Marathi family that was settled in Pune at the time of his birth. His father Vasant Kalal used to work for Municipal Corporation of Mumbai and his mother is known as Lolo Kalal. Deepak’s sister Vrushali is a politician as well besides being an actress. Deepak’s childhood was a tough one as he was not able to continue his studies after 10th standard due to his family’s monetary condition. Later on, he pursued a short-term course Craftsmanship Course in Cookery from Rizvi College of Hotel Management, Mumbai, and after that, he managed to get a job of hotel receptionist in a three-star hotel.

Deepak Kalal who called himself a travel blogger started getting noticed on social media after he visited Kashmir in 2011 and posted his videos from there. Despite the fact that he is not connected to any political party, he has been quite vocal and expressive on the matter of Kashmir.
