Hyderabad, October 17, 2024: Claranet India Private Limited, the Indian arm of a UK-based technology services company, donated 25 high-end sparingly used laptops worth INR 32 lakh to the NGO People for Urban and Rural Education (PURE) today. The donation ceremony took place at Claranet’s Hyderabad office, located at My Home Twitza Raidurg, near T-Hub.

The laptops, which include ten Dell Latitude 3420 (i5), three Dell Latitude 3420 (i7), and six Lenovo ThinkPads, are in nearly-new condition with full warranty and home service support. These devices will be handed over to underprivileged rural girls studying in government schools, empowering them with the necessary tools for academic and personal growth.

The handover event was attended by key Claranet team members including Srujani Choudhury, HR Head India; Syed Wasay, Finance Head India; Akshay, In-Charge of IT and Security, along with other staff. Representing PURE, Ms. Aruna Dara, accompanied by her team, accepted the donation.

Laptops hold immense significance for students, especially for rural girls, by providing them with access to online resources, enhancing academic participation, and improving their comprehension and performance. The portability and flexibility of laptops also allow students to engage in learning opportunities anytime, anywhere.

Srujani Choudhury highlighted the company’s commitment to making a positive impact through social, economic, and environmental initiatives. Syed Wasay added that donating used laptops not only reduces e-waste but also provides crucial support to local communities by increasing access to technology.

PURE, founded by NRI Shyla Talluri, is a volunteer-led organization that focuses on education, girl children, shelter homes, and youth leadership. It operates in India and the USA, with a growing presence in countries like Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and others. PURE has impacted over 100,000 children and supported 500 public schools across India.

Shyla Talluri expressed her gratitude to Claranet for their generous contribution, emphasizing that such donations have the potential to significantly enhance the education of girls from rural Telangana. She encouraged other companies to follow suit by donating unused laptops, tablets, and other devices to enable online education for children from low-income backgrounds.
