Bumrah dismisses Stokes, Root, and Woakes in a fiery spell on Day 2; removes Joe Root for the 11th time in Tests.

London, Lord’s Stadium – Team India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah unleashed a stunning spell on Day 2 of the third Test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy against England, dismantling the hosts with three wickets in just two overs.

The second day’s morning session witnessed high drama as Bumrah sent back England captain Ben Stokes (44), star batter Joe Root (104), and Chris Woakes (0) in quick succession. All three were dismissed in classic Bumrah fashion — with precision, pace, and swing.

This spell took Bumrah’s tally to four wickets in the innings, having already bowled out Harry Brook (11) on Day 1. Remarkably, Joe Root has now fallen to Bumrah 11 times in Test cricket, making the Indian fast bowler his most persistent nemesis.

England Resume at 251/4, Collapse Under Pressure

England resumed Day 2 at 251/4, with Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse at the crease. But the momentum quickly shifted as Bumrah tore through the middle order, leaving England rattled and India on top.

Ball Controversy Frustrates Indian Players

Amid Bumrah’s brilliance, a moment of controversy unfolded. Indian captain Shubman Gill approached on-field umpire Sharfuddoula regarding the condition of the ball. After testing, the ball failed the gauge check, prompting a replacement.

However, Indian players, including Mohammed Siraj, were visibly frustrated — especially because the original ball was only 10 overs old. Siraj voiced his concern directly to the umpire, but was instructed to return to his bowling mark. The team expressed dissatisfaction with the replacement ball and continued to argue the decision.
