On December 20, two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto launched the next-generation model of its popular electric scooter, the Chetak, in the Indian market. The company introduced the updated Chetak 35 Series with cosmetic changes and mechanical upgrades.
Key Updates:
New Chassis and Storage:
The updated Bajaj Chetak features a new chassis frame, with the battery pack placed below the floorboard. This results in an under-seat storage space of 35 litres, providing more room for carrying belongings.
Battery and Range:
The Chetak 35 Series comes with a larger 3.5 kWh battery pack, which is the biggest battery the Chetak has seen so far.
Bajaj claims the new electric scooter offers a range of 153 km on a full charge, with a real-world range of around 120-125 km.
Performance:
The Chetak 3501 and 3502 variants offer a top speed of 73 km/h, while the 3503 variant will have a top speed of 63 km/h.
The 3.5 kWh battery provides power to the electric motor, enabling the Chetak 35 Series to offer a certified IDC range of 153 km and a real-world range of 120-125 km.
The 3501 variant features a 950W onboard charger that charges the battery from 0-80% in just 3 hours, while the 3502 variant has a 950W offboard charger that takes 3.25 hours for the same charge.
Price and Variants:
The Chetak 3501 is priced at ₹1,27,243 (ex-showroom, Bangalore).
The Chetak 3502 is priced at ₹1,19,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore).
The price of the Chetak 3503 has not been announced yet.
Comfort and Design:
The new Chetak features an 80 mm longer seat compared to other variants, offering more comfort.
The scooter now has a larger floorboard, providing more space for the knees, and the wheelbase has been increased by 25 mm, now measuring 1,350 mm.
Color Options:
Chetak 3501 comes in Indigo Metallic, Hazel Nuts, Brooklyn Black, Matte Scarlet Red, and Pista Green.
Chetak 3502 is available in Brooklyn Black, Moon White, Indigo Metallic, and Matte Course Grey.
Warranty and Availability:
Bajaj is offering a 3-year/50,000 km warranty on the new Chetak 35 Series.
The scooter will be available at Bajaj dealerships in 507 cities and can also be purchased from e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. Bookings for the scooter have already started on the official website, and deliveries for the 3501 variant will begin at the end of December.
