Ahmedabad | July 23, 2025: In what could have been a devastating air disaster, an Indigo flight preparing for takeoff from Ahmedabad to Diu caught fire on the runway just moments before becoming airborne. There were 60 passengers on board, all of whom were safely evacuated, thanks to the swift action of the pilot and ground staff.
According to official sources, flight number ATR76 was cleared by Air Traffic Control (ATC) and had already begun rolling on the runway when the pilot noticed smoke and flames emerging from the engine. Without losing a moment, the captain issued an urgent ‘Mayday’ call and immediately aborted the takeoff.
