For the year 2023, the 5th National Water Awards were launched on 13th October 2023 via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). A total of 686 applications were received and evaluated by a Jury Committee. The ground verification of shortlisted entries was conducted by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), leading to the selection of 38 winners across the nine categories.

The National Water Awards (NWAs) emphasize the efforts made by individuals and organizations to fulfill the government’s vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’. These awards aim to create awareness about the significance of water conservation and foster collaboration between the public and organizations in water resource management activities.
