Women Smuggling Alcohol from Rajasthan Arrested in Ahmedabad’s Madhupura Area
14 Female Bootleggers Arrested with 889 Bottles of Alcohol and Beer: Ahmedabad Crime Branch Makes First Major Bust
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested 14 female bootleggers from the Madhupura police jurisdiction, seizing 889 bottles of alcohol and beer. This marks the first time the Crime Branch has apprehended such a large number of female bootleggers in a single operation. Despite the widespread alcohol trade in the area, the local police had remained unaware of the operation. According to reports, all the arrested women had brought the alcohol from Rajasthan, and the Crime Branch has since filed a case and launched an investigation.
Active Role of Women in the Alcohol Trade
As Ahmedabad authorities tighten regulations on alcohol sales, female bootleggers have become more prominent in the illegal trade. The information about their activities was brought to the attention of Inspector Mehul Chauhan of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch. Acting on this tip, a raid was carried out in the Madhupura area, where the 14 women were caught transporting 889 bottles of alcohol aboard a bus. All of the women are from the Kagdapith area in Ahmedabad. They had traveled to Rajasthan to bring back the alcohol, which was intended for sale in Ahmedabad.
Transporting Alcohol from Rajasthan
Investigations revealed that the women were using buses and trains to travel to Rajasthan, where they would conceal alcohol and transport it back to Ahmedabad. Many of these women took trips to Rajasthan under the guise of tourism, but their real motive was to smuggle alcohol. Authorities have confirmed that these women were conducting illegal alcohol trade in the Kagdapith and Kantoliyavas areas of Ahmedabad.
